We arrived…and, another CVS trip!
We arrived…and survived our drive to Minnesota. I did VERY well…so did Mom & Kristi.
Here is a photo of the morning after we got to Minnesota…we arrived at 1am, Central time, so we weren’t in the mood for photos when we got there. Really, Mom wasn’t in the mood for photos in the morning, either, but here it is!
We had a good first day in MN - we slept in - then, we went with Grammy to JoAnn Fabrics. We had family visit all afternoon, I got to see all my Aunts & Uncles & my Great-Grandparents came over. Then, I stayed at home while Mom, Grammy & Auntie Chas went to Michaels, Wal-Mart & CVS!
Here is a photo, from after the “party” with the family…

CVS-ing…the fun begins!
Recently, while looking at Facebook, I saw one of my friends had joined a group called “Money Saving Moms,” of course, this caught my eye. I looked into it further.
On the site, there is a ‘tutorial’ for how to do this…these women NEVER pay for their items at CVS. It amazes me…in order to get started, you have to start ‘earning’ CVS Extra Care Bucks (ECBs). Tonight, I did just that.
I purchased:
Softsoap Spa Radiant Body Soap - $4.99; $1/1 coupon; received $4.99 ECBs
Sauve Deodorant - $.70 (clearance item); $0.50/1 coupon
Russell Stover Private Reserve Chocolates - $6.58 for 2; received $3 EBCs
Head & Shoulders Shampoo - $5.99 on sale; $1/1 ExtraCare Coupon; $1/1 P&G Coupon
Johnson & Johnson Buddies Soap - $0.99 each, got 2; $2/2 coupon *FREE*
Had a $4/20 purchase at CVS
BOTTOM LINE: $12.08 spent; $9.48 in coupons; $7.99 ECBs earned for the next trip & received a $5/$25 purchase!
I’ll let you know what I have coming up next…
Photo of the treasures:
I probably wouldn’t have gotten the chocolates…but, with the ECBs & I needed to get to $20, they were worth it for the drive to Minnesota!
This is what we do while we are sick…
So…we have a real illness…the flu. Not that we had a test done, but does it count when you have a friend who has it, and their test was positive? Yup…based on that, and his physical exam & such…we got Tamiflu…that was Tuesday. Tuesday night & Wednesday morning, not happy times, Mom & I were up pretty much till 3am, and even after that, I didn’t sleep well…so, Mom & I slept really well last night!
Even though I am sick, I still like to get into trouble…this is where Mommy & I get our “work” done…
I sit with all the cords, trying to figure out where to put them, and Mom sits on the chair, working at the desk. It’s a good arrangement, as far as I am concerned. As you can see, the unit for Mommy’s desktop is no longer there - she has it moved to take the trip to MN. The Computer Doctor (aka my Uncle Kyle) is going to see if he can fix my errors. He’s excited about it, I know. I wish he would let me help him, too. I’m really good at pushing buttons, Uncle Kyle!
Here are a few photos of the sick & the Mommy…
As you can see, we don’t feel too great, but we’re not too bad, either. I hope we’ll be in MN on time! I’m working on getting me well! ~ Jacob.
The roof…
Well, at the end of January, during a storm in which I said to Shadrick, “Go get him!” We had about 10 shingles blow off the roof. So, we decided that we should check into getting the roof replaced, with the help of insurance…which, they settled with us after the guy inspected the roof, to do the front only. I figure, if it happened on the front, it will probably happen on the back & we’ll cross the bridge for that when it comes…
Anyhow, I called around for estimates…called three places, all of which said they would be out the next day. The first guy, I really liked & he said he’d get us an estimate so he’d get the job. The second one gave an estimate, but it was higher & didn’t seem as though he was as interested in doing it. The third, which I was glad cause I wasn’t so sure of them on the phone, never showed up or called!
So…for $1800, we’ll be getting the front of the roof replaced…we have a $500 deductible, but I won’t tell you here how much of that we are really going to have to pay…let’s just say it’s not $500.
Here’s the estimate, though…I really liked how he wrote it all up & stated exactly what he would do. We also had him give an estimate to get the whole thing done, but Fleeta said to just get the front done for now…I agreed…
Frankly, if it’s done before I get home…this guy will get bonus points & I’ll be giving his number to all my friends for not having to listen to any hammering while I am home with Jacob!
Photos of the roof are to follow!
I got a package!
Well, Mommy opened it for me, but it was for me…from Great-Grandma Jan. Some clothes for my birthday. They were late, but I didn’t mind - I wasn’t even here for my birthday!
Here are the gifts…I’ll be bringing the t-shirt & vest home to MN to wear while I am there. The other shirt is an 18-24 month shirt & I’ll be wearing that later this year…
It’s always fun to get mail that isn’t all business or anything. Not that I know much about that, but Mommy does. She enjoyed getting a package!
That isn’t the only package that came that day…Mommy’s Fair & Square Earth Day package came. Here are the squares she received:
Mommy got a couple of WDW, a couple of Hand-dyed silk flosses (one in red, her favorite color!), a couple of rolls of cute ribbon, and some MH beads. THANKS to Terry in Illinois for such a cute package & squares!
More later…Jacob.
I’m a good walker
With my walker, that is…hopefully, while I am in MN, I’ll get over being a chicken and venture out on my own. Mom thinks it is really funny when I try to reach out for another thing to get somewhere else, but then I can’t reach it, so I get down, crawl, and get back up. Well, it’s just how I get things done…
Here is me & my walker:
And a few more of me…
More later…Jacob.
Another sickness…and, a day at home…
Well, we spent the day at home. I bet that Mom doesn’t take me anywhere tomorrow, too. I’ve been coughing & sneezing & Mom’s been suctioning my nose out - and, I really enjoy that!
I decided it was a great idea to sit in the DVD rack today - Mom got some photos of it. I also thought it was fun to get into my old carseat, that hasn’t made it to the attic yet…it’s on the floor in my room & Mom didn’t have the camera to get that photo opportunity, but she did get it on her cell phone camera.
Anyhow…I’ve been a little crabby today & I did take a couple of good naps. And, I know Mom hopes I go to bed early.
Here are the photos…
Mom has been talking with Uncle Kyle today, about the computer. Last week, while Mom was working on Polly’s calendar & she let me crawl around at her feet, I saw the power button with the light on the computer & decided that I needed, NEEDED to touch it, while she was working on the computer…needless to say, the computer decided today that it really needed to start taking a dump. When Mom told Uncle Kyle about the problems, and why she thought the computer was having a problem, he agreed that it was probably my actions. I can’t help it…I’m “queer for buttons” like my dad. If the problems keep happening, and it isn’t figured out before we get to MN, the computer will be taking ANOTHER trip to MN for Uncle Kyle (aka “Computer Doctor”) to fix it again! Then, Mom will probably put the computer on the desk, where I can’t reach it again! ~ Jacob.
Reading…and sometimes eating…my books!
Well, at least it was reading them this morning, before Nana, Mom & I head up the River Road to go and visit Aunt Genova. Mom just caught me at the right time to get these photos…
and…sitting with my book…
And, if you are lucky, you’ll catch me with the corner in my mouth…Mom has been trying & trying to convince me that eating books is not good, but she hasn’t been able to do that yet! If you get a good look at the corners, you’ll see that I’ve chewed them off!
It was a good day, even though I spent a lot of time in the car. I’m just practicing for that long trip to MN at the end of the month! ~ Jacob.
